Coffee's Saturday Football Thread (Week 2)
Obliging for Coffee this Saturday.

Forest will survive again with home points. Sheff Utd, if they don’t make signings, look doomed home or away.........

*Saturday

Fulham v Brentford (15:00)

Two teams that punch above their weight. Two tactically different managers, but both innovative and seem to get the best from mediocre squads. Star strikers have been key for them in recent season. One is serving a betting ban, the other is sulking a bit, having so far being denied a move to the Saudi cash cow. Brentford are dogged and will come away with something. A Nailed On sit on the fence DRAW.

Liverpool v Bournemouth (15:00)

I don’t think anyone is expecting a repeat 9-0 result from last season. Liverpool are finding out what it is like to be scrapping in the bargain basement for signings. Salah had a right old strop that would have raised the attention of the Saudis. Bournemouth are settling under a new manager. Liverpool, while leaky, should be able to get the goals to edge this one. HOME WIN

Wolves v Brighton (15:00)

Wolves surprised a few with their performance against Man Utd, but ultimately fell foul to the now all too familiar bottling officials at OT. Brighton have lost a couple of key defensive midfielders in McAllister & Caceido, but they still find scoring easier than Wolves. AWAY WIN

Spurs v Man Utd (17:30)

This could be a decent game. I scoffed when Celtic appointed the little known Aussie, but he pleasantly surprised, bringing in a high press more adventurist style of football than the dour Lennon. So, I am willing to say, Spurs have got themselves a decent manager. Their problem is still having a penny pinching chairman in Levi. 10hag must have been bitterly disappointed with the lack lustre performance against wolves. Of the new signings, Madison shown brighter than Mount Week 1. I don’t see Spurs losing. And when push comes to shove, I am getting off the fence. HOME WIN

Man City v Newcastle (20:00)

A bit of a late one. Both teams opened with wins. Newcastle sparkled a bit more (Villa were soft) but I think City will want to set down a marker and will grind out a win. HOME WIN ..after 20 minutes of added time for Newcastle time wasting.

*Sunday

Aston Villa v Everton (14:00)

A boring undercard for the main event. Mings is a big loss for the Villa defence. Dyche will have a similar struggle this season. Villa more likely to find the back of the net with the likes of Watkins. DCL is becoming a permanent sick note. HOME WIN.

West Ham Utd v Chelsea (16:30)

After a slow start against Liverpool, they settled and bossed things for the second half. They’ve added Caceido and Lavia since, we should be scared. But we have surprised them a few times of late. It’s Going to be a 1-1 DRAW Paqueta to score and get a yellow card for taking his shirt off. Can someone get me the odds.

*Monday

Crystal Palace v Arsenal (20:00)

It feels like a game I couldn’t give a shit about. Arsenal were good in attack last week but showed their vulnerability when they conceded and hung on a bit. Old man Roy, showed he still has some fight in him. Prediction, Hodgson to give Arteta a kick up the hole for running up and down the touchline. Game- DRAW

WWC Final:

It’s coming home. Well, more importantly, it’s coming to an end. I have avoided it apart from two hilarious penalty shoot outs. No issue with those that want to watch it, but hysterical comparison to the achievements of Bobby Moore & Co, are blasphemy.

Enjoy your weekend fellow Hammers.

Thing is re Arsenal they have a ridiculously easy opening 6 or 7 games bar Man U at the Emirates, who are hopeless anyway.

So they should have a healthy number of points and therefore the media will be creaming themselves over how great they are

Re: Coffee's Saturday Football Thread (Week 2)
The 2nd yellow was ridiculous. Ayew was guilty of much more blatant pull back in the first half when already on a yellow himself. The standard of officiating is dreadful. That's the main issue.

I agree about Arsenal. Not looked particularly impressive in either game and we performed much better than them when a man down on Sunday, even created more opportunities on the break.

That said, Palace are always capable of causing an upset there under lights, but they are fucking cheats

I thought palace played really well and just lacked a finisher like Zaha etc. they missed Oilise.

There’s still something weird about arsenal. I think they got lucky here. I felt like last season teams didn’t have a go at them at all. They just don’t have that dominance that title winning teams have. They don’t instill fear based on how good their play is.

I really think there are quite a few better teams in the league than them. Unless they get some ridiculous striker in the window I’m not seeing title winners here. But will we see.

TBH Manuel you make a good point as if we then only pickup yellows on var if it's a second yellow, what about if it's a 5th yellow and suspension for the next game etc? Hmmm

Need to draw the line somewhere, just a bit rough when the Ref gets it wrong or is conned by the fouled player, but as we have seen even VAR gets it wrong and the fact if VAR can't make a decision they hand it back to the Ref to look at and decide, that in itself is a joke as surely if the VAR official can't make a decision then its in no way clear and obvious!!! .

Sydney - Not totally against that, if like you say it is a second yellow, but there is already enough time being added now as it is. I'm really not convinced with some of these new rules at all, it just seems to have caused confusion in the main, like Bowen's booking at B'mouth.

Re: Coffee's Saturday Football Thread (Week 2)
Seeing the Tomiyasu red card again, it really was a poor decision, but the fact VAR can't be used when players are on a 2nd Yellow is just mind boggling to me?

Saw the start of the Declan interview after the game, all a bit nauseating TBH so i turned off, but at least it didn't keep saying how Buzzin he was.............

44% possession, 1 shot on goal and against 10 men.

Shocking.

Defender stuck his leg out and caught his shin without getting anywhere near the ball. Replay showed it clearly.

I thought Partey was suppose to get a yellow for waving an imaginary yellow card?

Don't agree. Reckon he dived through and between the defenders. The cunt has previous. Mugged the ref and VAR against us last season

Arsenal wasting time already, fucking hate Arteta and his team.

Rice looking worth the £60m he should have cost, a modern day Ray Wilkins ( RIP )

The inevitable VAR top 6 penalty when the game looks like a damp squid. Poor old football.. Sky rule.

Re: Coffee's Saturday Football Thread (Week 2)
VAR should be used to book twats like Edouard. Faking a head injury when he’s elbowed Odegaard in the back of the head. Ref completely fell for that one.
